Peter Lougheed’s Radical Legacy Still Relevant Today

Some 40 plus years ago Peter Lougheed espoused radical views on resource development.  Even today, as politicians salute his remarkable achievements,  they fail to implement or follow them.  This famously competent premier offered a far-sighted, progressive and conservative vision. His six principles are, arguably, even more relevant to Canadians today:

  • Behave like an Owner;
  • Collect your Fair Share;
  • Save for a Rainy Day;
  • Add Value;
  • Go Slow;
  • Practice Statecraft (a competent government and a smart civil service)
