Hugh Segal (1950-2023) – Remembering a Friend

Tributes have been pouring in following the sad news of former Canadian Senator Hugh Segal’s death, including from the basic income community here and internationally. He was a friend, colleague and advisor to many of us, and an inspiration to everyone who heard him. I have my own fond memories, but it’s his legacy with the basic income movement that matters. I knew the Hugh who spent the last couple of decades of his life fighting for a basic income guarantee for ordinary, struggling Canadians, and who sparked a movement.
